FOR MISSION SOIL LIVING LABS & LIGHTHOUSES
Support services for your Living Lab or Lighthouse
SOILL is funded under the Horizon Europe Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe” (Mission Soil), which aims to establish a network of 100 Soil Health Living Labs (LLs) and Lighthouses (LHs) leading the transition towards healthy soils by 2030. SOILL coordinates, supports, expands and promotes this network. This page shows what SOILL offers to Soil Living Labs and Lighthouses, when each service applies and what you need to do.
Start here
Four actions to take first
If you do nothing else on this page, do these four things. Everything else is an opportunity you can
take up when it suits your Living Lab.
-
Register on the SOILL Hub
Your LL/LH profile is pre-created by SOILL. You and your colleagues register as users at soill2030.app/signin. Step-by-step guide: soill2030.eu/soillhub
-
Complete the SOILL onboarding survey
Your answers determine the training and support you are offered, and they populate your profile in the Living Labs and Lighthouses Atlas and Catalogue.
-
Put the M&E deadline in your calendar
The assessment is mandatory and annual, with data submission in quarter 1. Only the Administrator can access it. Start with the M&E training recording and the M&E Guidelines.
-
Subscribe and join a Working Group
Newsletter: soill2030.eu/newsletters. Working Groups are open on the Hub under Groups › Official SOILL Groups, if you would like to contribute.
Three services to know first
Everything else builds on these
-
The SOILL Hub
The central digital platform of the community, free of charge upon registration: your profile page, the M&E section, the Interactive Atlas and Learning Journey, the events calendar, thematic Groups, the knowledge repository, the Helpdesk and IT support.
-
SOILL Learning Journey
Understand what learning you need at each step of your journey, gain access to useful resources, and take part in trainings and bootcamps.
-
Monitoring & Evaluation
Receive an individual report with recommendations, track your progress and assess your contribution to the Mission Soil objectives. Mandatory, annual, fully online on the Hub.
Your journey with SOILL, phase by phase
Three phases, from joining the network to support after your project ends. Select the phase fitting your Living Lab or Lighthouse and scroll through the services. Each service says what you get and what you need to do.
Phase 1 — Onboarding
From the GAP phase to the first months
The onboarding phase is where SOILL establishes contact with your project and gathers the
information needed to integrate your LL/LH into the network. What you provide here determines the
support you receive later.
Exchange with project coordinators
What it is
An initial meeting during the Grant Agreement Preparation phase or shortly after launch, often facilitated by REA and the European Commission.
What you get
- A clear view of the support, tools and services available
- Clarified roles and expectations between SOILL and your project
- Early identification of your needs, so support can be tailored from the outset
- A direct contact point in the SOILL team
What you do
Nothing — SOILL contacts your coordinator.
Consortium and data mapping
What it is
SOILL collects contacts and key information about your project: coordinators and partner organisations, LL managers and communication contacts, land-use types and biogeographic regions, and alignment with the Mission Soil objectives.
What you get
Inclusion in the right mailing lists, access to the services relevant to your profile, and connections to peers working on similar themes.
What you do
Coordinators share this information in the template provided, and keep it updated — tell SOILL whenever contacts change or new people join.
SOILL onboarding survey
What it is
A more detailed survey covering your activities and thematic focus, your operational needs and support priorities, and your stakeholder engagement and collaboration interests.
What you get
- Training, tools, guidance and mentoring aligned with the needs you declare
- Your profile page on the Living Labs Atlas and your entry in the Living Labs catalogue
What you do
Complete the survey once, as early as possible.
SOILL at your kick-off meeting
What it is
On invitation, SOILL joins the kick-off meeting of your project.
What you get
- An overview of the SOILL framework and services for the whole consortium
- An introduction to the SOILL Hub and the monitoring process
- Answers to your first questions, and early contact with the SOILL team
What you do
Invite SOILL when you plan your kick-off agenda.
Phase 2 — Project implementation
Throughout the lifetime of your project
Once your project is running, SOILL accompanies you in three ways: day-to-day support and communication, the annual Monitoring & Evaluation cycle, and the learning, visibility and collaboration opportunities that are open all year.
